Papa co-founder lands seed funding for a 2nd swing in eldercare: UpsideHōM
Jake Rothstein spent almost six years scaling Papa, a Miami-based business that provides care and companionship to senior citizens. The business, which pairs senior Americans with uncertified-yet-vetted buddies, helps offer casual services, such as technology assistance, grocery delivery or perhaps a fun conversation. The […] Together with the financing, UpsideHōM announced its next big bet, dubbed a relaunch, that will sit atop its completely provided homes that sit throughout Raleigh, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa and South Florida: a software platform to take out all the clutter from move-in and upkeep. The company chose to use roomie matching services for seniors as one of its core services, alongside the abovementioned assisted living attributes. The synergies between UpsideHōM and Papa, Rothstein’s previous company, are clear beyond an overlapping client base. As for why Rothstein didn’t just launch encouraging living services as a new item vertical within his earlier company, he chalked it up to the “incredible” chance in the former, which warranted it’s own business. …
