
Rocket Laboratory has finished its 17th objective, putting a synthetic aperture radar(SAR )satellite on orbit for customer Synspective, a Tokyo-based area startup that has raised over$100 million in moneying to date. Synspective aims to operate a 30-satellite constellation that can provide international imaging protection of Earth, with SAR’s advantages of having the ability to translucent clouds and inclement weather condition, as well as in all lighting conditions. This is Synspective’s first satellite on orbit, and it removed from Rocket Laboratory’s launch center on the Mahia Peninsula in New Zealand. It will run in a sun synchronous orbit roughly 300,000 miles from
Earth, and will act as a demonstrator of the start-up’s technology to pave the way for the complete constellation, which will provide commercially available SAR data as both raw and processed via the business’s in-development AI innovation to provide insights and analytics.
