Club Banquet, a startup with a more affordable method to meal shipment, is revealing that it has raised $3.5 million in seed funding led by General Catalyst.
The business was established by Atallah Atallah, Ghazi Atallah and Chris Miao. The basic idea is pretty easy: Dining establishment delivery that only costs $5.99 per dish– more affordable than nearly anything you ‘d find on other shipment services. (The start-up also charges diners a $2 delivery cost, along with a $1 charge for single meal orders.)
Atallah Atallah, who previously co-founded dining establishment benefits business Seated and acts as Club Banquet’s CEO, said the startup works with dining establishments to pick a couple of meals that they can manage to offer at the $5.99 cost. Diners, on the other hand, register for a weekly meal strategy and place their orders at least 24 hr ahead of time. The restaurant then understands exactly how much of a dish will be purchased, so they can prepare ahead and prepare in a cost-effective and effective method.
“We truly deal with them to produce a meal that they can make at a rate that works for their users,” Atallah said. Plus, he noted that with all the orders placed ahead of time, Club Banquet and its partners can prepare the very best routes without needing to develop advanced algorithms for optimizing on-demand deliveries: “In some cases the best options are the most basic ones.”

However, Atallah kept in mind that while meal credits are acquired via weekly membership, they can be stopped briefly or invested at any time. He likewise recommended that he doesn’t see Club Feast as a direct rival to on-demand food delivery– rather, he suggested that he continues to use DoorDash and Uber Consumes for spur-of-the-moment orders or unique events, while Club Feast is a more budget friendly choice for routine meals.
“With our rate point, our typical user orders eight times a month,” he said. “Why not make the pie much bigger?”
Atallah included that Club Banquet is diversifying the food alternatives on the platform by adding side meals and desserts. And it could eventually introduce greater costs for fancier meals, however he stated, “We wish to ensure that does not impact the $5.99 concept.”
The startup currently makes deliveries in San Francisco and San Mateo, where it works with dining establishments including The Halal Guys, Kasa Indian Restaurant, HRD and Kitava. With the brand-new financing, it plans to expand throughout the Bay Area and into New York City.
“The pandemic exposed substantial spaces in the food delivery industry, and we’re proud to support Club Delight in their mission to make the experience more inexpensive for both restaurants and consumers,” stated General Catalyst Handling Director Niko Bonatsos in a statement.
