TechCrunch simply hosted a small virtual meetup with Detroit start-ups and equity capital. Like the one we held last month in Miami, the event was a blast and included a talk with two local VCs on which start-ups operate in Detroit and how to raise money from regional financiers.

In case you missed it, the video of this talk is listed below. Jonathon Triest from Ludlow Ventures and Patti Glaza from Invest Detroit Ventures spoke extensively on the comprehensive types of start-ups that call Detroit home. They indicate Bloomscape (houseplants) and StockX (tennis shoes) and the various medical and security start-ups in Detroit, nearby Ann Arbor and the surrounding metro area. Both firms invest in early-stage startups, but do so in significantly different methods.

All about Detroit

The 20-minute conversation covers the kinds of creators who can discover success in Detroit and other Midwestern areas.

This occasion belonged to TechCrunch’s growing series of City Spotlights, where we focus on a growing startup environment and highlight what makes the location appealing for startups. We’re going to Pittsburgh next and hope you can join us.
